In Pics: 78th Birth anniversary of Late King Birendra being celebrated

KATHMANDU: Today, on the 78th birth anniversary of Nepal’s 10th Shah Dynasty King, late Birendra Bir Bikram Shah, Yogi Narharinath Trust Spiritual Council Nepal organized a wreath-laying ceremony and a tribute meeting at the statue in Jawalakhel.

King Birendra, who was born on this day in 2002 BS, ruled Nepal from 2028 to 2058 BS.

King Birendra and his family were assassinated in the Narayanhiti palace on 2058 BS Jestha 19 (1 June, 2001).

King Birendra is regarded as a people-loving and generous king in Nepal.

He also established the image of a pacifist king by proposing to the world that Nepal become a peace zone.
