KATHMANDU: Today is Christmas Day. Every year on Dec 25, Christians around the world, including Nepal, celebrate Christmas to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, celebrated primarily on Dec 25 by billions of people worldwide as a religious and cultural celebration.

It is believed that Jesus was born 2000 years ago in Bethlehem, Jerusalem, from the womb of Lady Marry. Jesus is also referred to as Jesus Christ. AD is thought to have been held in memory of his contributions to the human community.

Christmas Day is a public holiday in many countries, is religiously observed by the majority of Christians, as well as culturally observed by many non-Christians, and is an important part of the holiday season. The government of Nepal has declared today a public holiday in honor of Christmas Day.

Today, on this occasion, also known as “Christmas,” churches across the country are commemorating Jesus Christ with programs that include prayers. On Christmas Day, in addition to reflecting on the teachings and teachings of Jesus, love is expressed, greetings and gifts are exchanged.

Christian followers in Nepal are also marking the festival amid fanfare organizing a variety of activities across the country.

The National Christian Federation has planned a number of events for this occasion. Thamel, Boddha, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Pokhara, and other areas in Kathmandu have a festive atmosphere during the Christmas season.

Christmas trees decorate markets and large commercial buildings.

According to National Christian Federation officials, Christmas has been celebrated in Nepal for 400 years.

Meanwhile, President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba have extended their heartfelt Christmas greetings to all Nepali Christians living at home and abroad, wishing them for peace, happiness, prosperity, good health, unity, brotherhood and progress.

“Through such festivals, I am confident that the spirit of mutual harmony, tolerance and solidarity among communities with diverse cultural identities and religious beliefs will increase and help to further strengthen and strengthen national unity,” the President said in her congratulatory message.

PM Deuba expressed his belief that celebrating the festival enthusiastically as an expression of his culture and traditions through his greeting message will help in the enhancement of mutual brotherhood, amity and national unity among all Nepali sisters and brothers.
