POKHARA: Gandaki Nepali Congress (NC) has formed a committee to oversee party elections.

A three-member committee has been formed under the coordination of the State’s General Minister, Bishnu Prasad Lamichhane.

The committee includes Joint Chief Minister Kopila Ranabhat and Ramesh Pandey.

Likewise, Democratic Lawyers Association (DLA) Gandaki Chairperson Phadindra Koirala and Kaski Chairperson Kapilmani Dahal will serve on the legal assistance committee.

Coordinator Lamichhane stated that the committee has begun working as of today. He stated that if there is no agreement by Dec 27, the party’s leader will be chosen through elections.

The election’s final schedule will be announced on Dec 27. ‘We choose the party’s leader as unanimously as possible,’ he said, ‘or else the democratic exercise continues. They are chosen through a competitive process.’

Surendra Pandey, a Central member, and leaders Bindukumar Thapa, Mahendradhwaj GC, and Bhojraj Aryal are competing here.

Kalpana Tiwari and Champadevi Khadka, according to sources, have also claimed to be the party’s leaders.

However, if there is a competition, it is said that it will be divided into two groups.
