Commission asked parliament secretariat for an explanation about swearing in ‘Madhesi language’
Some MPs, including Janamat Party Chairperson Dr. CK Raut, took oath in 'Madhesi language' which is not in the list.

KATHMANDU: The Madhesi Commission has asked the Secretariat for an explanation saying that the Federal Parliament Secretariat has approved taking the oath in the Madhesi language.
The senior member of the House of Representatives (HoR), Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana, administered the oath in Nepali language on Thursday, and some MPs, including Janamat Party Chairperson Dr. CK Raut, took oath in ‘Madhesi language’ which is not in the list.
The Madhesi Commission has asked the secretariat for an explanation on the matter.
Savita Dangol, the Commission’s Deputy Secretary, has written to the Parliament Secretariat, requesting an explanation, stating that the Language Commission and the Madhesi Commission have approved the oath taking in the ‘Madhesi language,’ which is not listed.
“Until now, it appears that the Language Commission’s ‘Madhesi language’ has not been listed. It is a serious matter that members of the HoR take an oath in that language in a formal program, and it appears to have a negative impact on the other listed languages that are widely spoken in Nepal “said the Parliament Secretariat’s letter.
According to the instructions, it has been requested that the Secretariat of the Federal Parliament be informed of the reasons why the oath in Madhesi was approved.
Following the oath, dozens of organizations called the commission and demanded that the oath be cancelled as the Madhesi language was not officially listed, according to the commission.
On this subject, a protest was held in some Madheshi districts on Thursday evening, calling for the cancellation of CK Raut’s oath in Madheshi.
