Dr. CK Raut, the chairperson of the Janamat Party, has been embroiled in controversy after taking the House of Representatives (HoR) oath in Madhesi. Raut was elected to the House of Representatives from Saptari 2.

The protest began because there was no document in Madhesi in which he took the oath.

Maithili Sahitya Parishad’s Chairperson Satish Kumar Dutta, Chairperson of I Love Mithila.com Vidyanand Yadav, and Chairperson of Milaf Ramila Shah issued a press release condemning Raut.

Officials from the aforementioned organization have also burnt his effigy in protest of the Madhesi language.

‘The Madhesi language is not mentioned anywhere in the list of languages,’ according to their statement. It is illegal to take an oath in Madhesi. Raut has also made disparaging remarks about Maithili speakers.’

Dr. Organization officials have also warned that if Raut’s oath is revoked and he is not re-sworn, the Federal Parliament Secretariat will strongly protest.
