Senior MP JB Rana took oath from President

KATHMANDU: Senior MP Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana has taken oath from the President.
Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana, the newly elected senior member of the Federal Parliament, was sworn in by President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
This afternoon, senior member Rana took the oath of office before the President at the Office of the President of Nepal, Rashtrapati Bhawan (Sheetal Niwas).
According to the citizenship certificate, senior member Rana was born on April 24, 1998, in Mangsir, informed Dashrath Dhamala, the Parliament Secretariat’s co-spokesperson.
In the event that there is no election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) or both posts are vacant, there is a constitutional provision that the senior member of the HoR shall preside over the meeting of the members present. When the Speaker is not elected, the senior member who presides over the HR must administer the oath to the other members.
According to the arrangement, the senior member Rana will administer the oath to the other newly elected members at the parliament building in New Baneshwor at 1 o’clock on the Poush 7 (Dec 22), according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
Before attending a meeting of the House or any of its committees for the first time, a member of the Federal Parliament must take an oath in accordance with federal law, according to the Nepalese Constitution. Towards the election system to be elected first from the election held on Mangsir 4 (Nov 20), 165 proportional electoral system and 110 members of the HoR have been elected.
The tenure of the HoR will be for five years. The Speaker and Deputy Speaker must be elected from among the members of the HoR within 15 days of the start of the first meeting of the HoR, according to the constitution.
