MP Maya Rai cast her vote from hospital

KATHMANDU: The election to choose the leader of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party has concluded.
Voting was completed at the office of the party’s parliamentary party in Singha Durbar.
President Sher Bahadur Deuba and General Minister Gagan Thapa are competing for the party’s leadership.
Today, 89 MPs elected in the Nov 20 election voted. 87 people were physically present at Singha Durbar and voted.
Maya Rai of Bhojpur, who was elected from proportional representation, cast her ballot from the hospital.
Rai, who was in labor, cast her vote from Om Hospital in Chabahil, bringing the voting process to a close.
Tek Bahadur Gurung, who was elected from Manang, was unable to vote. As the case is still pending in court, he from the establishment party did not vote.
The counting of votes will take place shortly after the voting has concluded. The name of the elected Congress parliamentary party leader will be announced today.
