KATHMANDU: The election for the leader of the Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party has concluded.
Voting was completed at the parliamentary party’s office in Singha Durbar.
President Sher Bahadur Deuba and General Minister Gagan Thapa are vying for the party’s leadership.
Today, 89 of the 89 MPs elected in the Nov 20 election voted. There were 87 people present at Singha Durbar who voted.
Maya Rai of Bhojpur, who was elected using proportional representation, cast her ballot from the hospital.
Rai, who was in labor, cast her vote from Om Hospital in Chabahil, bringing the voting process to a close.
Tek Bahadur Gurung, who was elected from Manang, was unable to vote.
As the case is still pending in court, he from the establishment party did not vote.
The counting of votes will take place shortly after the voting has concluded. The name of the elected Congress parliamentary party leader will be announced today.
