KATHMANDU: Voting for the leader of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party continues.

Voting, which began a little late at the parliamentary party’s office in Singha Durbar, is continuing.

The parliamentary party’s office security has been beefed up in preparation for the voting process. Voters can only enter the office by looking at their names on a list, while journalists are barred from entering.

Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of the Competition Party, and General Minister Gagan Thapa voted. To be elected, the parliamentary party’s constitution requires 50 percent of the votes cast.

Congress has 89 members, 57 directly elected and 32 proportionally.

However, Tek Bahadur Gurung, who was elected from Manang, could not vote. As the case is pending in the court, he is not participating in the voting.
