Local level should be made independent: Deuba

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has emphasized the importance of gradually developing the local level into a self-sufficient organization.
Inaugurating the 8th National Convention of the Association of Nepalese Municipalities in Kathmandu on Monday, Prime Minister Deuba emphasized that local level resources and means should be properly utilized and gradually developed as a self-reliant organization.
He stated that the responsibility and accountability of the people’s representatives to the people should be fulfilled effectively by properly allocating resources and means so that the people’s expectations and needs are met.
Similarly, Prime Minister Deuba believes that the local level should be made more transparent and technology-friendly so that people can easily perform their duties.
He stated that people’s perceptions of the government are formed based on the evaluation of the work done at the local level, so they must be committed to serving the people.
He insisted that the local level be equally serious about constructing the necessary infrastructure for the country’s development.
