KATHMANDU: Chairperson Dr. CK Raut has been elected as the leader of the parliamentary party of the Janamat Party.

Raut was unanimously elected as the party’s leader at a meeting of MPs held on Sunday at the party office in Buddhanagar, Kathmandu.

BP Shah informed that a meeting has been rescheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. to elect the party’s deputy leader and chief whip.

Raut Saptari defeated JSP chairperson Upendra Yadav from Constituency No. 2 with twice the number of votes cast.

Janamat has six members of parliament. Raut was chosen directly, while the other five were chosen using a proportional system.
