KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has urged everyone to exercise caution as the cold weather increased throughout the valley and the country.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Thakur, the Ministry’s spokesperson, has asked for caution because the outbreak of some diseases will increase during the winter months. Senior citizens, chronic patients, children, and pregnant women, according to spokesperson Dr. Thakur, should be especially cautious because the cold has been spreading for a few days.

The temperature in Kathmandu valley has dropped to 7.6 degrees this morning, according to statistics.

The Ministry has requested that warm clothing be worn to avoid cold, to protect the head and chest from cold, and to wear warm clothing at night such as a quilt or blanket. With the arrival of winter, some Terai districts have become enraged.

Similarly, it has been requested not to spend too much time outside the house, to eat hot food, and to drink hot water. When using a geyser for heating or fire, the ministry recommends that adequate air circulation be provided in the room.

Accidents such as suffocation occur in some cases due to a lack of an air circulation system, so the ministry has also requested that a space for air circulation be kept when using a heater geyser.

Children and the elderly can suffer from colds, heart disease, heart attacks, breathing problems in the lungs, pneumonia, colds, and fever.

Similarly, the Ministry urges people to be careful with their food because most diseases are spread through contaminated food and water.

The Ministry has asked that food and drinking water be kept in clean dishes and that people wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water before preparing food and eating.
