JANAKPURDHAM: Neha Chaudhary, who was evicted from her home, has started a street protest at Ramgopalpur Chowk in Mahottari.

Neha’s husband was arrested and detained by the police on Tuesday evening in a case against domestic violence and dowry. However, Neha started the protest by demanding that the mother-in-law and father-in-law be arrested as well.

Currently, the traffic has been closed at Ramgopalpur Chowk. Even motorcycles are not permitted to operate. Niharika Rajput, a virgin mother, as well as students and women, backed Neha’s movement.

Last Falgun (Feb/March), Neha married Pankaj Chaudhary of Ramgopalpur 5. Pankaj holds an MBBS degree. As dowry, Neha’s family gave 51 lakhs in cash and more than 50 lakhs in gold and silver jewelry, furniture, and other items.

However, Neha’s husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law began torturing her for failing to pay the dowry. Neha was admitted to the hospital a month ago after being brutally beaten.

Pankaj has filed for divorce in court. She filed a case in court against domestic violence and dowry after she was unable to accept Neha. Pankaj, Neha’s husband, is currently incarcerated in the same case.

Neha demanded that her mother-in-law and father-in-law be arrested and punished, and on Wednesday, she set fire to tires at Ramgopalpur Chowk, halting traffic. She withdrew her protest after the police promised to arrest her by 7 p.m.

Neha’s mother-in-law and father-in-law have yet to be apprehended by police.

Neha stated that she had to protest again because she was not arrested within the time frame promised.
