EC submits election report to President Bhandari

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) submitted the report of the final election results to President Bidya Devi Bhandari today.

There is a provision in the election system and the proportional election system to submit the report with the election results to be the first elected to the House of Representatives within seven days of the announcement of the election results.
Now that this has been accomplished, the President has the authority to call for the formation of a new government. The EC published the final results of the parliamentary elections held on Nov 20 of this year on Wednesday.

The commission stated that the report containing the results of the state assembly member election 2079 will be presented to the state heads of the seven states in their respective capitals by commission officials. EC Ishwari Prasad Paudel, Ram Prasad Bhandari, Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar, Sagun Shumsher JB Rana, and EC Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi were among those present.
The EC made public the results of the elections held under the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) and Proportional Representation (PR) categories. In the election held on Nov 20, the CPN-UML won the most seats in the PR category, followed by the Nepali Congress (NC).
Under the PR system, the UML won 34 seats, the NC 32, the Maoist Center 14, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) 13, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) 7, the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) 5, and the Janamat Party 5.
