Bodies of 2 missing persons found in Karnali river

KATHMANDU: The bodies of two people who had been missing since Dec 10th were discovered in the Karnali River in Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality 1 of Kalikot district.

Armed police divers discovered the bodies of two of the three people who went missing in the Phukot hydropower project JCB accident.

According to the Assistant Spokesman of Armed Police DSP Shailendra Thapa, the body of 20-year-old Umesh Giri from the same village 1 found on Dec 12 and the 23-year-old JCB driver Mangal Chudari from Lamki Chuha Municipality-4 of Kailali District was found on Dec 13.

Divers from Armed Police Force Nepal Ashrit Gulm Kalikot and No. 42 Reserve Gana Banke discovered Giri and Chudari’s bodies.

The search for Raktim Sarki, 19, of the same village, who went missing in the same accident as them, is still ongoing.

The JCB No. State 3-01-003 A 6774, which was returning from the project’s tunnel, fell into the Karnali River about 80 meters below the Karnali Corridor on the Dec 10.

Three people were injured and three went missing.
