KATHMANDU: The Department of Drug Administration (DDA) has banned two Ayurvedic medicines.
It has also instructed the producers and sellers to withdraw those drugs from the market.
The department has prohibited the sale of Ayurvedic medicines for acid reflux known as Avipattikar Churna and Nirmal Churna, which are sold by chemist.
Gorkha Ayurveda Company makes Avipattikar Churna, and Bhaskar Herbals makes Nirmal Churna.
Both the companies have violated Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India, 2016 according to the department.
According to the department, both medicines have been instructed not to be sold or recalled because they have been found to be defective and may have serious health consequences. The department has also advised against using these medications.
