KATHMANDU: Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has revealed that he will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign after breaking his leg while on a skiing holiday.

“Hey guys, what can I say, the end of the year could have definitely gone better… While I was trying to get my head clear while ski touring, I suffered a lower leg fracture,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Yesterday’s surgery went well. Many thanks to the doctors! However, it hurts to know that the current season is over for me.”

The 36-year-old represented Germany at the 2022 World Cup, playing every minute of their campaign, which ended in the group stage.

Neuer’s injury has been successfully operated.

Germany failed to advance to the knockout stages of the Qatar World Cup under Neuer’s captaincy.

Neuer won the World Cup in 2015.
