KATHMANDU: Two Nepali Congress (NC) leaders who opposed Resham Chaudhary’s release during the preparations have now gone silent after the NC government decided to bring an ordinance for his release.

When CPN-UML Chairperson KP Oli was Prime Minister, three NC leaders, Gagan Thapa, Dhanraj Gurung, and Gagan Thapa, spoke out strongly against his initiative to free Resham Chaudhary.

Now, two NC leaders, Dhanraj Gurung and Gagan Thapa, have remained silent after the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government decided to bring an ordinance to release Resham Chaudhary yesterday. Bishwa Prakash Sharma, the leader, did not abandon religion.

He previously protested the UML’s initiative for Resham Chaudhary’s release, and he is now protesting via social media. Gagan Thapa and Dhanraj Gurung, who advocated that the accused in the Tikapur incident not be released based on political bargaining, are now being questioned on social media about why they remain silent when their government decides to bring an ordinance for their release.

Why are leaders Dhanraj Gurung and Gagan Thapa remaining silent after taking a screenshot of their protest on social media after the then-UML-led government agreed to take the initiative to release Resham Chaudhary? The question has been posed.

General Minister Bishwa Prakash Sharma, in an act of political candor, stated on social media that this ordinance is completely incorrect.

‘What is true on the street is true in Parliament,’ writes Sharma. As a result, make the disagreement public. It is completely unacceptable not to conduct extensive discussions between the parties and within their own party in order to bring an ordinance during the transition period.
