Morocco beat Portugal to make World Cup history

KATHMANDU: Morocco reached the semi-finals after registering a historic victory over Portugal.

Morocco won 1-0 in the third quarter-final match of FIFA World Cup 2022.

Morocco became the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Youssef EN Nesyri scored a goal in the 42nd minute of the game to give Morocco victory.

Earlier, Morocco defeated Spain in a penalty shootout in the last 16. In the group stage match, Morocco defeated Belgium, which is considered strong.

In the injury time of the game, Walid Cheddira of Morocco left the field with a double yellow card, but Portugal could not take advantage of it.

After 16 years, Portugal has again been eliminated from the quarter-finals.
