KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma has urged business leaders not to say the economy is in crisis. He made this request while speaking at the ‘Fin Electro Tech-2022′ exhibition fair, which began on Thursday in Kathmandu.

He stated that the government is serious about resolving industrialists’ and businessmen’s problems, and that it would be better if businessmen focused on business and increasing production rather than taking to the streets to protest.

He said that work is being done to solve industrialists’ problems, such as liquidity and bank interest rates, based on suggestions made by a working group comprised of representatives from the private sector, the central bank, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Finance.

He also stated that he has submitted a proposal to the Council of Ministers requesting that the government intervene on certain provisions of the monetary review in order to address private sector problems. He suggested that the government avoid street protests because it is always willing to work with businesspeople.

He requested that no disappointment be expressed as the government is seriously discussing interest rate hikes and working capital guidelines.

He stated that rather than selling electricity, we should now create an environment conducive to the export of hydrogen in order to achieve economic prosperity.
