KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has called a secretariat meeting.

With the Election Commission’s letter to political parties requesting proportional MPs, UML will convene a secretariat meeting to decide on proportional MPs. On the proportional side, 34 MPs will be elected based on the votes received by UML.

Prithvi Subba Gurung, Head of Propaganda Department, who is also Deputy Secretary General, informed that the meeting was called for 1 pm on Friday.

On Wednesday evening, the Election Commission sent a letter requesting three days to arrange clusters from the closed list and send the names to the seats won by the party.

According to the letter from the EC, the 110 names on the proportional list should be separated into five clusters and sent to the EC along with the party’s decision. On that basis, the Commission will declare that proportional MPs have been elected. UML must send 19 women from the closed list out of a total of 34 people who will be chosen proportionally.
