Suspended CJ Rana says he will return to his post soon

KATHMANDU: With the impeachment motion against him rendered ineffective, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana has stated that he will resume his regular job.
Although Rana stated that he would appear in court today for his regular work after the Supreme Court (SC) received a letter from the Federal Parliament Secretariat informing the court that the impeachment proposal registered in the Federal Parliament against him had become ineffective, he did not appear.
“This is done in accordance with the proper procedure and process.” “After receiving the letter from the Federal Parliament Secretariat, I will go to the SC to resume work,” he said.
On Feb 13, 98 members of the ruling House of Representatives (HoR) filed an impeachment motion against CJ Rana, charging him with 21 different offenses. He has since been suspended.
The impeachment motion is said to have become inactive following the election of a new HoR and its failure to reach a conclusion during the previous legislative session.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat informed the SC of this today. According to a source at the SC, such a letter has been received.
Prior to this, CJ Rana had filed an application with the Secretariat on Tuesday to inform them that the impeachment against him had become ineffective.
