NBA prepares to prevent CJ Rana

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court Bar Association is preparing to prevent suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana from returning to the Supreme Court. According to Dr. Ramhari Tripathi, a Supreme Bar member, after Rana prepared to return to regular work, the bar is preparing to deny him admission to the Supreme Bar.
JB Rana was suspended on 2078 Falgun 1 (Feb 13, 2022), after an impeachment motion against him was registered in the Parliament Secretariat with the signatures of 95 MPs. On Tuesday, however, he sent a letter to the Parliament Secretariat requesting that the suspension be lifted. Rana is preparing to go to the Supreme Court on Wednesday after the Secretariat’s Secretary General, Dr. Bharatraj Gautam, informed him that his suspension would be lifted on Wednesday.

Parliament’s 5-year term ended without the impeachment proposal being finalized. Following the election, preparations are being made to form a new parliament. JB Rana requested that the suspension be lifted after the end of the Parliament’s term, and the Parliament Secretariat agreed.
JB Rana was being released after a week!
The impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana has ineffective. Dr. Bharatraj Gautam, General Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, has sent a letter to JB Rana stating that the impeachment proposal is no longer active. In addition, JB Rana’s suspension has been lifted. He plans to return to the Supreme Court today after the suspension is lifted.
On Tuesday, he applied to the Parliament Secretariat to have his suspension lifted. In response to JB Rana’s letter, General Secretary Gautam of the Parliament Secretariat informed the President’s Office, Prime Minister’s Office, Constitutional Council, Supreme Court, Judicial Council, and JB Rana on Wednesday that the previous letter suspending JB Rana was ineffective.
Suspended Chief Justice JB Rana is stepping down after a week due to an age limit. According to reports, the law is unclear on whether or not to proceed with the impeachment motion against him after he is removed from office.
On Falgun 1 (Feb 13), last year, MPs from the ruling parties Congress, Maoist Center, and United Socialist Party filed 21 different charges against JB Rana in the House of Representatives. Following that, an impeachment recommendation committee was formed under the leadership of Bista to investigate the various allegations leveled against JB Rana.
JB Rana was suspended after Parliament issued a letter on 2078 Falgun 1 (February 13, 2022) stating that he would be unable to complete the work. Suspended was released after approximately ten months. On 2078 Falgun 1, 95 MPs from the then-ruling party signed the grand impeachment proposal against Jabra at the Parliament Secretariat (Feb 13, 2022). The secretariat suspended JB Rana after the impeachment proposal was registered. Deepak Kumar Karki took over as acting Chief Justice after his suspension. Hari Krishna Karki has taken over as Chief Justice following Karki’s retirement.
