Petition filed in SC demanding re-polling in Rupandehi 2

KATHMANDU: A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court (SC) seeking re-voting in Rupandehi Constituency No. 2. Ganesh Poudel, a Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate, has petitioned the SC.

According to the petition, the election officer’s office declared that the CPN-UML candidate Bishnu Poudel was elected illegally.

RSP candidate Ganesh Poudel was defeated by CPN-UML vice-chairperson Bishnu Poudel by a margin of 1,366 votes.

Poudel filed a petition to SC 11 days after the election results were declared. He has filed complaints against eight organizations, including the Election Officer’s Office Rupandehi Constituency No. 2, the Central Office of the Commission, and elected Member of Parliament Bishnu Poudel.

Udvir Nepali, an election officer, was assigned to that district.
