JANAKPURDHAM: Neha Chaudhary, who was subjected to violence under the guise of providing less dowry, has filed a court case seeking justice.

She registered two cases of domestic violence and dowry against her husband Dr. Pankaj Chaudhary in the District Court Mahottari on Monday.

In Falgun (Feb/March) 2078, Neha, a resident of Mahottari’s Aurahi Municipality 1, married Dr Chaudhary of the same district’s Ramgopalpur Municipality 5.

Neha’s family provided 20 tolas of gold ornaments and 51 lakhs in cash as dowry for the marriage. They began torturing her, however, claiming that the dowry was insufficient.

After two days of Dashain, Neha was brutally beaten by her husband and taken to the hospital by her relatives. After her health improved as a result of the treatment, she sought justice in court.

Dr. Chaudhary, her husband, worked at Norvic Hospital in Kathmandu. However, the hospital administration fired him after this incident became public. He has also filed for divorce.

Neha, the victim, opposes divorce. She reached at Ramgopalpur Municipality today and went to the judicial committee to register the case. But she returned after failing to locate the deputy chief, who is also the mayor, chief administrative officer, and judicial committee coordinator.
