KATHMANDU: The Lumbini State Chief Minister’s Office has been relocated to Dang from Butwal.

The Chief Minister’s office has been relocated from Butwal, the temporary capital, to Dang, the permanent capital.

Furniture and other office supplies required for office operations were delivered to Dang by truck.

According to a Chief Minister’s Secretariat employee, all necessary equipment, including furniture, for the operation of the Chief Minister’s and Chief Secretary’s offices has been brought to Dang.

During his tenure, Chief Minister Kul Prasad KC is taking steps to relocate the Chief Minister’s Office from Dang.

Preparations for the swearing-in of the new state assembly members and the assembly have begun in Rapti Valley (Deukhuri), Lumbini’s permanent capital.

Previously, the Lumbini State Assembly passed a proposal to relocate Dang’s capital to Deukhuri on 2077 Ashoj 20 (6 Oct,2020), by a two-thirds majority. However, the capital was not relocated to Dang due to a lack of necessary capital structures.

The Chief Minister is said to have shifted his location to Deukhuri while carrying out the decision.

The Lumbini State offices are currently being established in the Rapti Technical School buildings. Rapti Technical School has been renamed Saraswati High School in Dang’s Garhwa Rural Municipality.

The Rapti Technical College campus has over 40 small/large buildings covering an area of approximately 18 bighas.

In Dang, a new building for the state assembly building has also been constructed. Preparations are being made to hold the State Assembly meeting in the new building by the end of this month.
