Deepak Manange enters CPN-S
Having won the election from Manang (B), he will be the sole MP of the Unified Socialist in the Gandaki State Assembly.
POKHARA: Rajeev Gurung, alias Deepak Manange, who was elected independently from Manang, has joined the CPN (Unified Socialist).
Having won the election from Manang (B), he will be the sole MP of the Unified Socialist in the Gandaki State Assembly. The legislature will set up a separate office for him.
Here, the Unified Socialist have surpass the threshold towards proportionality as well. However, voting to become a proportional member of parliament is insufficient.
He joined the CPN-S through Madhav Kumar Nepal, the party’s chairperson, and was previously an MP. He initially gained independence and later joined the UML when it was in power.
Later, when the Nepali Congress (NC) took power, he left the UML and joined the alliance. Independent MPs are currently unimportant in Gandaki. As the role of independents in government formation is not recognized.
That is why he joined the alliance’s weakest party. This means Manange has retraced his steps back to Gandaki’s powerful ministry.
