KATHMANDU: Padma Bahadur Shahi of the Nepali Congress (EC) was elected to the State Assembly (SA) from the Bajura SA (2).

He secure victory with a total of 20,119 votes.

According to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer Bajura, his closest rival was Lal Bahadur Thapa of the CPN (UML), who obtained 17,521 votes.

38,795 votes were cast out of a total of 53,626 voters in the constituency in Nov 20 elections.

Earlier in the evening on Saturday, the Office announced the outcome of SA-1.

Naresh Kumar Shahi of the CPN (Unified Socialist) was elected. He defeated UML candidate Baldev Regmi.

Chief Returning Officer Dhakaram Paudel said that the counting of votes for the House of Representatives (HoR) seat from Bajura is still underway.
