World Cup: Two knockout matches to be played

KATHMANDU: Two pre-quarterfinal matches are being played on Sunday as part of the Qatar FIFA World Cup.
France will face Poland in the first match in Doha. The game will take place at Al Thumama Stadium at 8:45 PM Nepali time.
France and Poland will meet for the second time in World Cup history. Poland won the third place match 3-2 in 1982. Poland won Group D and advanced to the knockout stages.
Poland is the Group C runner-up. France is undefeated in the last seven meetings with Poland. After reaching the knockout stage in 2006, France became the first winner.
The match between England and Senegal will take place at 12:45 AM. The game will take place at Al Bayt Stadium. England won Group B under Gareth Southgate’s leadership. In the World Cup, England has scored 100 goals.
The African champions will face England’s Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Phil Foden, Jade Willingham, and Raheem Sterling. Senegal advanced to the knockout stage after finishing second in Group A.
