KATHMANDU: Deputy General Secretary of the CPN Maoist Center, Barsaman, is traveling to China today for further treatment.

Leader Pun is about to return to the Third People’s Hospital in Shenzhen, China, where he was previously treated, after he was diagnosed with hereditary jaundice. He had previously been cured of his illness after one month of treatment in the same hospital in 2078 Mangsir (Nov, 2021).

Since there is no regular flight between China and Nepal, the Deputy Secretary General, who is also the former Minister of Finance and Energy, is going to go to Shenzhen via Emirates flight at 7 pm on Friday, according to his secretariat.

After he returned from treatment in China last year, his jaundice (bilirubin) level was 9, but it has now risen to 35. Along with Leader Pun, former Speaker and wife Onsari Gharti, and daughter Sheela, are traveling to Shenzhen, China for treatment today.

Pun, who has been in regular contact with the doctor at the Third People’s Hospital since having his blood, blood pressure, heart rate, and bilirubin levels tested in Kathmandu, is leaving for China today after the doctor advised him to come to the hospital for a check-up.

Deputy Secretary General Pun met with Maoist Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba before traveling to China.

He was unable to participate in the election program of his constituency Rolpa due to health issues. He arrived in Kathmandu to rest after voting on Nov 20.

The leader Pun’s busyness aggravated the old disease, who worked in the ruling coalition’s seat distribution working group on behalf of the Maoist center. The leader once again served on the Maoists’ seat distribution task force in local, union, and state elections. According to his secretariat, he had meetings until midnight every day and didn’t get enough food or rest, so he was suffering from an old illness. Despite his illness, the leader returned to the seat distribution working group.

After the recurrence of hereditary jaundice, the leader again went to Bangkok on Ashoj 13 (Sept 29) last year. After the treatment in Bangkok was not successful, he was taken to Shenzhen, China.
