KATHMANDU: Former runner-up Croatia has entered the knockout stage of the World Cup after holding Belgium to a draw in the last match of the group stage. Croatia and Belgium played a goalless draw in Thursday night’s match.

Croatia, with 5 points from the draw, has advanced to the knockout stage by finishing second in the group. Belgium returned home from the group stage. In the next match of this group, Morocco defeated Canada 2-1 and entered the last 16 as group winners.

Earlier, Belgium reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and finished third after defeating England. Belgium, who were considered strong in the group stage, lost to Morocco in the second match, and the chances of going home increased.

If they had defeated Croatia in the last match, they would have reached the knockout stage. But the draw did not make it to the finals of the Belgian World Cup for the 13th time. Participating in the World Cup for the sixth time, Croatia reached the finals of the last World Cup but lost to France. Croatia will now play the winner of Group F.
