BYD South Asia Regional Meet 2022 in Nepal

KATHMANDU: BYD, the world’s leading new energy vehicle manufacturer, held the “BYD South Asia Regional Meet 2022” in Nepal on Nov 24, 2022.
Participants included representatives from BYD’s headquarters in Shenzhen, BYD India, and Cimex Inc. Pvt. Ltd., BYD’s authorized distributor in Nepal.
With its meteoric global rise, BYD is now entering the South Asian electric vehicle market for passenger vehicles. Nepal and India have expanded their network with showrooms, workshops, and charging stations in the last six months with the goal of leading the market.
Mr. Ketsu Zhang, head of BYD Southasia and Deputy General Manager of BYD Asia Pacific region, spoke at the event and emphasized BYD’s prowess, which recently rolled out three million new energy vehicles. He also declared the event to be the “Kick Off” for the new era of electric mobility in South Asia, emphasizing the importance of strategic cooperation, collaboration, and cooperation among dealer partners for BYD’s synchronized growth in South Asia.
Ms. Yamuna Shrestha, Managing Director of Cimex Inc, highlighted how Nepal is leading the charge in the South Asia region in the adoption of electric mobility, with more than 10% market share of electric vehicles in new vehicle registration. She also stated that BYD’s revolutionary cutting-edge technology is causing an evolution and paradigm shift in the global automobile industry, which has been reflected in the markets of South Asia, including Nepal and India.
BYD India’s dealer representatives from 13 dealer groups attended the event, which took place in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Hyderabad. Dealer representatives discussed how well the BYD e6 and Atto 3 have been received in the Indian market, with 600 e6 already on the road and nearly 1500 bookings for the Atto 3 since its launch last month.
Cimex Inc. Pvt. Ltd., BYD Auto Industry Co. Ltd.’s authorized distributor in Nepal, has already expanded dealership networks in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Pokhara, Chitwan, Biratnagar, Birtamode, Butwal, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi. In terms of BYD’s position in Nepal, Cimex recently opened a state-of-the-art showroom and workshop in Kathmandu, as well as introducing the country’s first sporty electric SUV, the BYD ATTO 3.
There is also talk about inter-country common charge points for BYD vehicles, starting with Nepal and India and expanding to South Asia in the coming days.
