Manang: More votes in proportional than direct
District Election Officer Pushparaj Sharma informed that 19 votes were invalidated on the direct side and 49 votes were invalidated on the proportional side in Manang.
KATHMANDU: In the House of Representatives and State Assembly member elections held on Nov 20, more votes were cast proportional than direct.
The district election office stated that in the Himalayan district of Manang, the number of direct election marks was low and the proportional election mark was high, owing to voter confusion, which resulted in more votes being invalidated.
District Election Officer Pushparaj Sharma informed that 19 votes were invalidated on the direct side and 49 votes were invalidated on the proportional side in Manang.
According to him, 6 votes have been invalidated on the direct side of the State Assembly, while 74 votes have been invalidated on the proportional side.
Sharma says that due to the problem of choosing the voters due to the election symbols of the political parties, the proportional vote may have been more invalid.
