SURKHET: The Karnali state government has been found to have allocated a low budget in the field of children.

According to a study conducted by Save the Children and the Common Campaign for Child Rights, only 2% of the budget is allocated to that area.

The state government appears to have spent the majority of its budget on physical infrastructure.

The budget for three fiscal years was included in the study.

According to the report, only 2.30 percent of the budget of 28 billion 28 million 28 lakhs 28 thousand was allocated to the field of children in fiscal year 2075/76.

Similarly, in fiscal year 2076/77, 1.89 percent of the budget was allocated to children, whereas only 2.14 percent of the budget was allocated in the previous fiscal year.

Tekraj Acharya of campaign complained that the field of children was given no priority in the current year’s budget.

Stakeholders and organizations have urged provincial and local governments to increase investment in the field of children.
