ISLAMABAD: A soldier and a terrorist were killed in an exchange of fire between the Pakistani military and militants in North Waziristan district of Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a military statement said.

Arms and ammunition were recovered from the hideout of the killed terrorist after the clash, the military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a late Wednesday night statement.

“The killed terrorist remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces, ” said the statement.

The operation against militants seems to be intensified by the army, following an announcement by militant group Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to end the months-long ceasefire agreement.

The TTP claimed an attack on a police team in the country’s southwest Balochistan province on Wednesday, which killed four people.
