KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has said that the country’s economy is not in crisis.

Speaking at a program held here today to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the Society of Economic Journalists Nepal (SEJON), he stated that the economy is not in crisis, but that some challenges remain.

“To say the economy is in crisis is to misunderstand,” he said.

Finance Minister Sharma stated unequivocally that economic indicators are improving. He claims that the economy is improving as foreign exchange reserves and remittance inflows have recently increased.

“As we have a mixed economy, we should not have a crisis and a peak at the same time,” he said, adding that “there are also challenges, and cooperation from the private sector is required.”
