Marchpass of Thapathali-Municipality-Thapathali squatters (photos included)

KATHMANDU: Squatters residents of the Bagmati River in Kathmandu Thapathali marched through Thapathali-Municipality-Thapathali.

They marched from Thapathali to Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office, then to Bhadrakali-Maitighar and back to Thapathali.

A large number of squatters have protested the Metropolitan Corporation’s plan to evict them from the squatters settlement. The area became tense after the metropolitan used a bulldozer to demolish the squatters settlement on Monday.

They demonstrated in front of the city office on Tuesday.

Residents of squatters who arrived at the metropolitan with banners chanted slogans against the metropolitan’s head, Balendra Shah.
