Demonstration continues even today in Thapathali squatter area (photos included)

KATHMANDU: The landless people of Thapathali area have been protesting since the morning on Tuesday, fearing that the metropolitan will use bulldozers.

They are collecting tires, displaying black banners, and chanting anti-Mayor Balendra slogans.

The Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee had issued a notice to the landless in Thapathali to vacate by Nov 20. The landless people protested shortly after the notification was issued.

Following the election, on Nov 28, there was a clash between the landless and the metropolitan police after the city sent a bulldozer to the settlement without notice.

Thirty people were also injured in the clash with landless protesters wielding homemade weapons, including Metropolitan Police Chief Raju Pandey.
