KATHMANDU: The counting of Udayapur-1 has resumed. The counting of votes in the district was halted from three days.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, the re-counting began this morning in accordance with the Election Commission’s instructions.

Last Saturday morning, during the polling of Constituency No. 1, there was a dispute in the counting of ballots when state ballots were discovered in union ballot boxes in some polling stations, and in some ballots, more than the number of ballots were discovered.

The counting of votes was halted after some independent candidates, including the CPN (UML), petitioned the Chief Election Officer’s office for re-voting.
