JSP’s Ashok Rai elected from Sunsari 1

KATHMANDU: Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Federal Council Chairperson Ashok Rai has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Sunsari 1.

Rai was elected by defeating his closest rival, Goma Tamang of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), by a margin of 453 votes.

Rai who is backed by CPN UML secured 17,059 votes while Tamang secured 16,606 votes.

Similarly, Muksamahang Subba of the CPN-Maoist Center, who is a candidate from the power coalition, secured 13,087 votes.
