KATHMANDU: Buddha Air has filed an application with the Civil Aviation Authority to get the contract for the ground handling service of Pokhara International Airport (PIA). Until now, the government company Nepal Air Service Corporation has expressed a desire for a private airline company to handle ground handling.

Buddha Air has completed all internal preparations for flights to begin in January 2023 from PIA. According to Buddha Air, this infrastructure is the result of many years of hard work and expense.

According to Buddha Air, by fully utilizing this airport, the door has been opened to bring in more tourists (both internal and external) to Pokhara and the entire Gandaki State. Buddha Air claims that it will pave the way for the Gandaki State and every Nepali to improve their standard of living and create wealth.

Buddha Air has operated five planes 24 hours a day, seven days a week since the opening of Pokhara International Airport. Every day, domestic flights will depart from Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa, Bharatpur, and Bhadrapur. Three days a week, international flights will be available to Banaras, India. Similarly, Buddha Air has applied to the relevant authorities for permission to fly to New Delhi and Dehradun, India, three days a week.

The technical team at Buddha Air is also investigating what types of ships can be used for international flights from Pokhara International Airport in Sano Valley. The statement also stated that Buddha Air will be heading in this direction in the near future.

The new airport was built at great expense and appears to be more expensive to operate. To reduce costs, Buddha Air has stated that it is necessary to integrate the airport’s ground handling system. Buddha Air provides its own ground handling at all of its domestic destinations. Buddha Air also has extensive experience and a large workforce.

The Nepal Civil Aviation Authority has received a proposal from Buddha Air for ground handling work at PIA. Buddha Air stated in a statement that it is committed to providing low-cost but high-quality ground handling for domestic and international flights beginning tomorrow.
