KATHMANDU: Two former CPN (Unified Socialist Party) central committee members have resigned.

Tanahun’s Rekha Thapa Basyal and Chitra Thapa have resigned.

They have made public a letter of resignation addressed to Madhav Nepal, Chairperson of the Central Committee.

‘It contradicted the ideas and values upon which the CPN-S was founded. There is no point in remaining in the party after the instructions to campaign for other parties in other places, including Tanahun district, because action will be taken,’ the letter stated.

There were a rebel candidate of CPN-S in all 4 constituencies towards the State Assembly of Tanahun.

Although 2 of them withdrew, 2 did not. The party had sent a letter to the district with a warning to take action against the rebel candidate and the decision of the alliance.
