Rice productivity up in Jhapa
Monsoon rice production this year was 4.89 metric tons per hectare, up from 4.85 metric tons in fiscal year 2078/89.

KATHMANDU: Rice productivity has increased in the Jhapa district.
Despite the fact that the area for rice plantation was reduced this year, production increased, according to Sagar Bista, chief of agriculture knowledge centre in the district.
Monsoon rice production this year was 4.89 metric tons per hectare, up from 4.85 metric tons in fiscal year 2078/89.
This year, the district cultivated rice on 86,625 hectares of land, up from 87,500 hectares last year.
Rice cultivation area has decreased due to plotting and land erosion, but productivity is increasing.
