KATHMANDU: Member of the House of Representatives Mahesh Basnet has been elected from CPN UML in Ilam 1.

Basnet won with 27,261 votes.

Basnet was elected after defeating Jhala Nath Khanal, leader of CPN (Unified Socialists).
