KATHMANDU: The Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City has begun to remove road encroachment in the city.
Mayor Prashant Bista announced that a campaign to remove structures built by encroaching on roads and footpaths has begun.
Once the encroached structures have been removed from Nepalganj’s BP Chowk, the operation will continue up to Sadarline, Eklaini, Idgah Road, Surkhet Road, Gharbari Tole, Dhambojhi, Fultekra Road, and New Road, he says.
Mayor Bista stated that despite the fact that the sub-metropolitan municipality had issued notices several times since a few months ago, the local residents ignored them, forcing them to use bulldozers.
Himalaya Shah, the district traffic office’s chief police inspector, stated that there was a problem with traffic management after they began doing business by occupying the roads and footpaths.
He stated that this campaign will also improve the city’s traffic management.
