UML Vice Chairperson Nemwang trailed by 16 votes in Ilam-2

KATHMANDU: Former Speaker Subas Chandra Nemwang and Nepali Congress candidate Damber Bahadur Khadka from the alliance competed fiercely in Ilam 2.

When the counting of Ilam Municipality Ward No. 3 over Nemwang, who has maintained a constant lead, Congress’s Damber Bahadur Khadka took the lead by 16 votes.

According to the Election Commission, Nemwang currently has 28,470 votes, while Khadka has 28,486 votes.

The counting of votes for Ilam Municipality Wards 1 and 2 has begun. In the most recent local level elections, one of these two wards was won by the Congress and the other by the UML.

The vote is still being counted.
