Banke 1: UML’s Surya defeats Athak
He was elected by defeating Youth and Sports Minister Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj (Athak) from Democratic-Left Alliance by 5,394 votes.
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Banke’s Surya Dhakal has won in Banke’s Constituency No. 1. Assistant Election Officer Sandeep Dhakal informed that he was elected by getting 25 thousand 26 votes.
According to the election officer’s office, he was elected by defeating Youth and Sports Minister Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj (Athak) from Democratic-Left Alliance by 5,394 votes.
Gahatraj secured 19,632 votes. In that constituency, Suresh Kumar Chaudhary of Nagarik Unmukti Party got 11,465 votes while Ananda Babu Kafle of Rastriya Swatantra Party secured 10,711 votes.
Constituency No. 1 has the highest number of voters among the three constituencies.
Constituency No. 1 of the district includes Kohalpur Municipality, Raptisonari Rural Municipality and Narainapur Rural Municipality.
Counting of votes for the state assembly of that constituency is ongoing.
