Dang 2: NC’s Raju Khanal triumph in State Assembly 1

KATHMANDU: Raju Khanal, the candidate of the Nepali Congress on behalf of the power alliance, has won in the Constituency No. 2 (1) of Dang under the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections.

Chief Electoral Officer Kripasur Karki informed that Khanal emerge victorious by securing 15,616 votes.

His nearest competitor Bali Bhadra Rana of CPN-UML secured 14,449 votes.

This constituency includes Banglachuli Rural Municipality and Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan Wards – 4, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18 and 19.

Chief Electoral Officer Karki informed that 37 thousand 86 votes were cast and 1,485 votes were invalid in this area.

Khanal was elected member of Constituent Assembly from Dang-3 in 2070.

In 2074, he was defeated by Krishna Bahadur Mahara, the leader of the Maoist center from that constituency.
