KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, president of the National Independent Party, has assumed control of Chitwan Constituency No. 2. Lamichhane, who was second and third in the voting in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, has taken the lead in the voting in Kalika Municipality.

Chairperson Lamichhane secured 4,007 votes, CPN UML candidate Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel secured 3,879 votes, and Nepali Congress candidate Umesh Shrestha secured 3,410 votes on behalf of the alliance. This constituency has received 67.3 percent of the votes cast.

Counting of votes in all the three constituencies of the district is going on. According to the latest results, Hari Dhakal of the National Independent Party is leading in Chitwan Constituency No. 1. While he got 6,267 votes, CPN-UML’s Surendra Pandey got 5,399 votes. Bishwanath Poudel of Nepali Congress, who became a candidate from the coalition, got 5,295 votes.
