Clean sweep by NC in UML’s ‘Fortress’ Mustang, 3 candidates under 40 years of age triumph
It was thought to be extremely difficult for the Congress to run a heavyweight candidate in a weak district.

POKHARA: Mustang is regarded as the safest district in Gandaki by the CPN-UML. The expectation is that the UML will win all three seats in the House of Representatives and the State Assembly, as well as the Congress.
As a result, there was little tension in the selection of Congress candidates. Congress sent three candidates under the age of 40. The UML’s three parliamentary candidates were all withdrawn.
It was thought to be extremely difficult for the Congress to run a heavyweight candidate in a weak district. Yogesh Gauchan Thakali, 29, was elected to the House of Representatives by Congress. He ran against Prem Tulachan, the outgoing UML MP.
Tulachan is one such person, having left the Congress and joined the UML in the 2074 election after being dissatisfied with Romi Gauchan’s lack of opportunity in the Congress for a long time. He not only joined the UML, but he also defeated Romi of the opposition party. Yogesh not only gained parliamentary access by defeating Tulachan, 60, in the current election, but he also exacted revenge by defeating the man who defeated his father. Romi’s son is Yogesh.
He secured 3,992 votes, while Tulachan secured only 3,078 votes. Romi had long been interested in Mustang politics. As a result of her, many Congressmen defected to the UML. By including Congress dissidents, UML transformed Mustang into a fortress. Even now, Romi had been given a ticket for the Mustang election by Congress. She gave her ticket to her son. Everyone was surprised by the son’s unexpected outcome.
Yogesh is a tourism professional who completed his post-graduate studies in India. He has run Trithunga Travels and Tours as well as Kalopani Guest House. The young age card appears to have worked well in Mustang this year. Both youths were also elected to the provincial assembly.
Namdu Gurung of the Congress took an unexpected victory in the State Assembly, defeating outgoing MP Indradhara Bista (A). In the most recent local election, he was defeated as the ward president of Lomanthang 4.
Namdu now has 1,048 votes, while his closest competitor Bista has 793 votes. Namdu’s age is 33. Bista, 53, was defeated by him. In State B, Congress’ Vikal Sherchan was elected. Sherchan was elected to the state assembly after defeating UML candidate Chandramohan Gauchan. Sherchan won by a margin of 158 votes over Gauchan.
Sherchan secured 2,723 votes, while Gauchan secured 2,565 votes. 55 votes were invalidated in this case. Gauchan is the current Member of Parliament who is stepping down.
In addition, Congress has made a clean sweep of Mustang. Vikal returned from Korea and became involved in politics.
He was involved in Congress politics and was a member of South Korea’s Public Relations Committee. Vikal is 39 years old, and Chandra Mohan is 55. Candidates under the age of 40 have won the Mustang by defeating father’s age generation candidates.
